In the lead up to Christmas last year (yes it does feel a long time ago now!), we were commissioned by the Bombay Sapphire distillery in Whitchurch, Hampshire, to take some architectural and candid 'people' photographs at one of their many Christmas themed events.

The photographs had to capture the glitz and glammer of the venue (which had been especially decorated for the event), the guests enjoying both themselves and Bombay Sapphire's special cocktails which were flowing freely for the duration of the event (!), as well as the general ambience of the event — helping to convey what it's like to attend one of their functions.

We are often asked if we are able to remove certain distracting features from the photographs we have taken. These requests can range from removing contrails from the sky, leaves from a lawn or graffiti from walls, and doing so will often make the difference between a good image and one that really shines and helps to keep the viewer's attention fixed on the intended subject. Occasionally, we are also asked if we can add features to photographs which weren't there to begin with, like adding a more attractive sky or digitally 'seeding' a new lawn!

Just as it took great skill in the darkroom to make the most of photographs captured on film, it takes great skill to turn a raw digital photograph into an eye-catching image which pops out at the viewer – taking the photo is merely the first step in a long digital 'developing' process. This blog post expands on this post from August 2014 which is also worth a read!
With the proliferation of ready-to-fly aerial photography platforms coming onto the market these days, it is easy to think that taking aerial photographs is just a question of buying an aerial photography platform and sending it up into the sky. Whilst owning an aerial photography platform is certainly a necessary step, it is merely a small part of a much larger process.
